What is the PAYAIG+ Fellowship?
The PAYAIG+ Fellowship is a dynamic, high-impact programme designed to equip young African professionals with:
- Practical knowledge in internet and digital governance
- Policy engagement skills
- Access to continental and global networks
- Opportunities to contribute to real-world digital policy conversations
This isn’t just another training, it’s a launchpad into leadership within Africa’s digital future.
Fellowship Tracks
Applicants can choose ONE of the following specialized tracks:
- Cyber Diplomacy – Navigate global digital negotiations and cyber policy frameworks
- Digital Rights – Advocate for online freedoms, privacy, and inclusive access
- AI Governance – Explore ethical, policy, and regulatory dimensions of artificial intelligence
Important: You may apply to only one track, so choose the one that best aligns with your passion and career goals.
A Truly Pan-African Experience
The programme brings together a vibrant community of young leaders across five language-based cohorts:
- Arabic
- English
- French
- Portuguese
- Swahili
Each cohort fosters collaboration, diversity, and cross-cultural exchange reflecting the richness of Africa itself.
Programme Details
- Duration: 5-day intensive fellowship
- Format: Fully virtual (with selected in-person opportunities)
- Cohort Size: ~25 fellows per language group
Expect a fast-paced, engaging experience filled with expert sessions, interactive discussions, and collaborative learning.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be 18–35 years old
- Be an African citizen residing in Africa
- Have a strong interest in digital governance
- Be able to communicate in Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, or Swahili
- Commit fully to all phases of the programme
- Have access to a reliable internet connection
Bonus: Previous PAYAIG Fellows and Ambassadors are strongly encouraged to apply and continue their journey.
